Radar Intercept Simulation

Step into the RAF ops room — take the chair as an Identification Officer or Weapons Controller. Build the picture, scramble QRA, and own the intercept.

Early Gameplay Video - it's still rough around the edges!

Report to the bunker

You push through the anonymous bungalow entrance. The air turns cool and dry as your footsteps carry you down a long concrete corridor, the hum of generators rising beneath the surface. A blast door thuds shut behind you.

The ops room opens out of the dark — banks of green-lit scopes, clipped voices on loop, a quiet urgency in the glow of sweeping radar. A chair slides back at the console. This is your station.

You log in, headset live. Unknowns paint the board. QRA is cocked at readiness. In the next minutes you will build the picture, call the scramble, and vector steel to the merge. The decision is yours.

What you can do

Step into the hot seat of a fighter controller. Build the picture, make the call, and scramble the jets.

  • Detect and track: Watch independent sweeps from RAF stations, promote primary returns into tracks, and follow their velocity leaders as the plot develops.
  • Scramble QRA: Choose an airfield, mission profile (IDENTIFY / SHADOW / DESTROY), and number of fighters, then monitor the intercept from launch to merge.
  • Control the battlespace: Toggle airways, range rings and bullseye, manage EW detections, and keep the board readable under pressure.
  • Command tempo: Pause, step, or accelerate time. Zoom and pan the UK area of responsibility and quickly re‑center on points of interest.
  • Face realistic scenarios: From routine unknowns and civil emergencies to coordinated bomber probes and high‑speed incursions.

Take the chair

RAF Identification Officer

Build the Recognised Air Picture. Correlate primary returns and EW hits, classify tracks, and call the scramble.

  • Classify fast: friend, foe, or unknown using IFF behavior and track history.
  • Deconflict: separate civil traffic from potential threats and keep controllers focused.

Weapons Controller

Vector QRA to the intercept. Manage commits, fuel states, and rules of engagement through the merge.

  • Vector and commit: push headings, angels, and speed to bring fighters onto target.
  • Execute: shadow for VID, turn cold, or authorize the shot when conditions are met.

Current Features

  • Radar simulation: Primary returns rendered on station sweeps with hit persistence and history dots.
  • Map and stations: RAF Buchan, RAF Neatishead, and RRH Portreath with independent sweeps, returns, and history.
  • Interaction: Toggle stations (1/2/3), zoom, and pan; camera auto-frames 250 mi radar range.
  • Tracks: Tracks form after multiple corroborated hits, decay without updates, include label and velocity leader.
  • Traffic & airways: Multiple aircraft with unique IDs and speeds; randomized spawns along airways.
  • Manual interceptor launches: Choose airfields and targets, set mission type (IDENTIFY / DESTROY / SHADOW), and launch 1–6 fighters. Integrated with QRA UI and ASMA updates.

Roadmap

  • UI: Station labels, key binding legend, configurable return/history persistence.
  • Radar: Per‑station ranges, coverage arcs, line‑of‑sight/terrain models.
  • Controls: UI to pick stations, ranges, and playback speed.
  • Intercept missions: Mission templates, advanced formations, pre‑planned timing, deeper system integration.
  • Player requests: Custom formations, mission briefings, historical stats.

Day 38 Update - 14/09/2025

Hey there, Air Defender!

It's day 38 and it's been non-stop this week as I finally get to a point where I can start building all the fun bits in the game, the scenarios, voice integration and nerdy plane spotter stuff.

It's gone a bit mad online with so many people giving me ideas and offering help, as well as begging me to release the game. I know, I know, I want to play it too, don't worry I'm working all hours (literally) to get it over the line.

I am currently putting together the slimmed down version for the DEMO, so you guys can get a small taste of what's to come in the fully-feature packed version and maybe it will scratch that itch you've got to get your hands on some Unknown tracks.

Do you have a business or know someone that would like to advertise to my 760 subscriber email, on my TikTok channel or in the game itself? If you do, send me an email to discuss the opportunities.

Discord

We've got a growing community on Discord if you want to chat with like-minded fans of the game or send me a personal message.

Thanks for your support and have a great week ahead.
